Heating Oil Delivery in Westchester, Putnam & Bronx County

Halstead Quinn Heating Oil Tank Installation.webp

Westchester winters don't leave much room for error. When temperatures drop and your heating system is working hard, the last thing you want is to run out of fuel. We've been keeping homes and businesses warm across the region since the 1940s — more than 80 years of reliable heating oil delivery to families just like yours.

Halstead Quinn is a family-owned, women-owned, and minority-owned business rooted in Mount Kisco. We deliver #2 heating oil and offer oil burner service contracts, level billing plans, and 24/7 emergency support. Whether your home runs on a standard oil furnace or a high-efficiency boiler, we have the fuel and the service expertise to keep it running through every cold snap.

Automatic Heating Oil Delivery

Running out of heating oil is more than an inconvenience — it can mean a frozen pipes emergency in the middle of the night. Our automatic delivery program uses degree-day tracking to calculate your home's oil consumption based on outdoor temperatures and your system's usage history. When our calculations show you're running low, we schedule a delivery before you hit empty.

You never have to watch your gauge, place a call, or wonder when your next delivery is coming. The system accounts for sudden cold snaps and adjusts automatically. Most customers on automatic delivery go years without ever thinking about their oil level — and that's exactly the point.

If you prefer to stay in control and monitor your own tank, our will-call option lets you order on your own schedule. Many customers start on will-call and switch to automatic after their first close call with an empty tank.

No. 2 Fuel Oil: What We Deliver

We deliver premium #2 fuel oil, the standard for residential and light commercial heating systems throughout Westchester County. Our fuel meets all applicable quality standards, and we source from reputable suppliers to ensure consistent burn quality and minimal equipment wear.

Our residential customers receive B20 biofuel heating oil — a blend of 20% renewable biodiesel and 80% conventional No. 2 heating oil. It works in any standard oil-burning system with no modifications required and produces meaningfully lower carbon emissions. Plus our customers can save approx. $200 in tax credits when using an average of 1000 gallons of B20 biofuel heating oil per year.

Oil Burner Service and Maintenance Contracts

Fuel delivery is only part of what we do. A well-tuned oil burner runs more efficiently, burns cleaner, and lasts longer than a neglected one. Our service contracts cover annual tune-ups, safety inspections, and priority service when something goes wrong.

A typical annual tune-up includes cleaning the combustion chamber, inspecting and replacing the nozzle and filter, checking the ignition system, testing flue draft and efficiency, and adjusting the air-fuel mixture for optimal burn. This is the kind of maintenance that keeps your equipment performing at its best and catches small problems before they become expensive repairs.

Service contract customers also receive priority scheduling on service calls — no waiting in line during a February cold snap. Our technicians are knowledgeable, licensed, and experienced with all major brands of oil furnaces and boilers.

Heating System Installation

We handle more than maintenance. When it's time to replace an aging furnace or boiler, our team manages the full installation. We assess your home's heat load, recommend appropriately sized equipment, and handle the installation from start to finish. Proper sizing matters — an oversized system short-cycles and wastes fuel, while an undersized one can't keep up on the coldest days. We get it right.

Oil Tank Insurance and Protection

We can put you in touch with a tank insurance provider that provides coverage for sudden and accidental releases, protecting you from unexpected expenses.

We recommend oil tank insurance to every customer with an older tank, particularly underground models installed before modern standards. Ask us about tank insurance when you call to set up your account.

Level Billing and Budget Plans

Heating oil costs fluctuate with the market. A cold January can mean a large bill at the worst possible time. Our level billing plan spreads your estimated annual fuel cost across 12 equal monthly payments, so you always know what to expect. Payments stay predictable, and there's no sticker shock after a cold stretch.

At the end of the season, we reconcile your account based on actual usage. If you used less than projected, you receive a credit. If usage ran higher, the difference is settled without penalty.

We also offer price lock-in options during the season. Locking in your price protects you from market spikes — a genuine advantage when energy prices are volatile. Our fuel delivery services page has more detail on pricing programs available to new and existing customers.

Emergency Heating Oil Delivery

We operate around the clock, every day of the year. If our regular client's tank runs dry at 2 a.m. on a Sunday in January, they can call us and we are there to help. We maintain emergency heating oil delivery capacity specifically for situations like this — not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how we operate.

Emergency deliveries are available to both existing customers and new customers who need fuel immediately. For details on our emergency services and response times, visit our emergency heating oil delivery page.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between automatic delivery and will-call?
With automatic delivery, we track your oil consumption using degree-day calculations and schedule deliveries before your tank runs low. You don't need to monitor your gauge or call us — we manage it for you. Will-call means you contact us when you want a delivery. Automatic delivery is the better choice for most households because it eliminates the risk of running out, especially during an unexpected cold stretch.

  • How often does my oil burner need to be serviced?
Annual service is the standard recommendation for most residential oil burners. A yearly tune-up keeps the system running efficiently, catches worn components before they fail, and satisfies many manufacturer warranty requirements. Older equipment or systems with high annual run hours may benefit from more frequent attention. Our service contracts make scheduling straightforward — we reach out when your service is due.

  • How is the level billing amount calculated?
We estimate your annual fuel consumption based on your home's size, insulation, heating system efficiency, and historical usage if available. That projected cost is divided into 12 equal monthly payments. At the end of your plan year, your account is reconciled — credits or small balances are applied accordingly. Most customers find level billing simplifies household budgeting considerably.

  • What should I do if I run out of heating oil?
Call us immediately at (914) 666-3200. We provide 24/7 emergency service and will dispatch a delivery as quickly as possible. If your system has locked out due to running dry, a technician may need to bleed the fuel line and restart the burner after the delivery — let us know when you call so we can send the right crew.
